These questions are addressed when general requirements for construction storage, use, and disposal are reviewed. Time is also spent covering the proper way to rig equipment for material handling. Participants will learn about different sling types and rigging methods. The formula for determining sling stress, load angle factors, and how sling angles affect sling loading are also reviewed. Participants will have a better understanding of what information is needed to safely rig a load.
Seminar Duration: 1.5 hrs.
9. OSHA 10 Hour Construction Safety Outreach Program: The 10-Hour program is intended to provide instruction regarding a variety of construction industry safety and health standards. Many construction users require construction personnel working at their site to be 10 Hour trained. The main topics include OSH Act/General Duty Clause 5(a)(1), competent person, electrical, fall protection, material handling, scaffolds, stairways and ladders, hazard communication, and excavations. Other topics such as welding, fire protection, confined spaces, and health hazards in the construction industry will also be discussed. Slide presentations, safety equipment, and mock-ups will be used to improve training quality. OSHA 10 Hour cards are distributed to participants who complete the program.
Seminar Duration: 10 hrs.
10. OSHA 30 Hour Construction Safety Outreach Program: This program takes an extensive look at OSHA's 1926 Construction Safety Standards. Effects of injuries on workers' compensation and liability insurance are covered and time is spent addressing how to manage OSHA-related issues. Demonstrations, mock-ups, and hands-on exercises are utilized to apply material covered. Workshop sessions are used to present the group with site scenarios and participants are required to develop a plan to address safety hazards that may exist during the course of a construction project. This class is intended for owners, project managers, superintendents, foremen, and safety personnel. However, all employees can benefit from taking this program. OSHA 30 Hour cards are distributed to participants who complete the program.
