About the AGC of America

What is the AGC of America?
In 1968, the GBC affiliated with the Associated General Contractors of America. The AGC is considered the leading spokesman for the construction industry. Its programs and services cover every imaginable interest of the general contractor and the construction industry.

Founded in the early 20th century at the urging of President Woodrow Wilson, AGC today represents more than 8,000 general contractors and 32,000 other firms in the construction industry in all 50 states. Membership in GBC includes Membership in AGC.

Today, the GBC is one of AGC’s largest and most active chapters. GBC member Ralph Johnson of Turner Construction Co., based in New York City, was President of the AGC of America in 2000.
