About the GBC Staff

The size of the GBC staff has fluctuated over the years depending upon the size of the Association. Regardless, it has always consisted of people dedicated and experienced in the construction industry. For its first 30 years, the Association was led by Managing Director Paul B. Richards, whose outstanding service was noted by the creation of a scholarship in his name.

GBC's Executive Director, Jeff Zogg, was fresh out of college when he started his career with the GBC in 1971 as the Assistant Managing Director. In the mid-1970s he became the Director of Governmental Affairs and spent the next decade involved in state government and legislative affairs on behalf of the Association. He became Executive Director in 1987. Jeff is responsible for overall policy execution on behalf of the general contractor before public and private owners, architects and engineers, regulatory agencies, employee representatives, the public and any other parties that have an interest in or influence the general contractor's business. Contact Jeff at jeffz@gbcnys.agc.org, or at the GBC phone/fax, 518-869-2207/518-869-0846.

Assistant Executive Director Joe Hogan has been with the GBC since 1988. Jeff Zogg's "right-hand man," Joe takes primary responsibility for GBC's liaison with public officials and designers, our specification review program and our partnering facilitation program. Contact Joe at joeh@gbcnys.agc.org or at the GBC phone or fax.

Jim Redmond has been part of GBC's safety program since its inception in 1995, first as a Safety Specialist, and now as Director of Safety and Health Services. Jim works in the Western New York area, serving the GBC Members in that area in all matters relating to safety, from jobsite safety services to safety training. Contact him at jimr@gbcnys.agc.org, or on his cell phone at 585-370-1853.

Education Director Brendan Manning has been with the GBC since 2000. Brendan is in charge of GBC's numerous educational programs, including the ACE Mentor Program, Construction Career Days, the Paul B. Richards Scholarship program, Future Construction Leaders of NYS, and the AGC of America's Supervisory Training Program. Contact him at brendanm@gbcnys.agc.org or at the GBC phone/fax.

Dennis Kiefer, GBC's Director of Membership Development and Marketing, has also been with the GBC since 2000. Dennis' main goal is to recruit new, worthy members to the GBC. Contact him at dennisk@gbcnys.agc.org or at the GBC phone/fax.

Communications Director Pam Martin has been with the GBC since 1985.
